Body Piercing

Although piercing may look like a new trend, many forms of body piercing have been in vogue for centuries. The civilizations in Egypt considered body piercing as a symbol of wealth and royal status and African tribes practice it as an expression of their religious belief. In the United States, piercings are looked at as an act of rebellion or artistic expression. Now they have become more mainstream, and piercing artists seem to find new places to pierce each time.

Types of Body Piercing The most common place where piercing is done is the ears. But now the trends seems to be, getting jewelry pierced on many other parts of the body. It is a fact that, any part of the skin can be pierced, following are some common places where body piercing is done:

There could be some complications during breastfeeding if you get your nipples pierced.

Tongue Piercing The good thing about tongue piercing is that it heals faster and you can get over the pain almost immediately after the piercing. • Keep the area of piercing clean. Don’t touch the place of peicing often. Always use washed and dry hands to touch it.
  • Avoid wearing clothes that touch the area of peircing. Don’t wear clothes that fit tightly against your body. If any cloth ruptures against the area, then it could cause swelling.
  • Clean the area everyday. This has to be done by anti-bacterial soap and water. Try and avoid any alcohol-based products as they can dry the skin out.
  • Go to your piercer, or doctor, if the area of piercing becomes swollen, hot, or red. These all are signs of an infection.
